Kenya signs $2.1bn renewable energy agreement with UAE consortium
What Happened
Kenya has signed a $2.1 billion agreement with a UAE-led consortium to develop 1.20GW of renewable energy projects, including solar, wind, and battery storage facilities. The projects will be developed in Garissa, Turkana, and Marsabit counties over the next 3 years. The agreement includes power purchase agreements and knowledge transfer initiatives.
